Once you've captured a video, you can apply the following tools in the Video Editor: Edit visuals, Speaker and Transcript to refine your guidde.
Document Editor: Format the accompanying document, which presents the step-by-step video in a screenshot and textual description format.
The Video Editor
Note: To edit a guidde that you didn’t create in your workspace, make sure you have the required permission level.
To begin editing your step-by-step guidde video, click the "Edit" button in the right corner of the video preview page. This page appears right after your guidde has been captured, or when you access it from your homepage.

Video Editor Side Panel
On the left side of our editor, you will find our editor Side Panel, which we'll explore next.
Background Selection
Within our Background tab, you can:
Set a background for a specific step or apply it to all steps.
Choose from colors, gradients, or uploaded images to captivate your audience and align with your brand.
You can remove a background entirely by toggling this option off.
Background can be set, changed or removed even after your video is captured.
Note: When your image doesn’t cover the entire step, the background frame will appear black by default.

Elements Selection
Want to add numbers, shapes, a browser bar or blur elements to your video steps? You can do all of that from the Elements tab in the video editor.
You can add:
Step numbers
Blur effect
Overlay effect
Basic Shapes: Rectangle, circle, curved arrow
Emojis
Chat bubbles
Arrows
And more!
Change the direction of a Basic Shapes arrow: Once you've added an arrow from Basic Shapes, click it. Then, in the floating menu, click the arrow icon (second from the left) to choose its direction from the opened sub-menu.
Rotate Arrows from the Arrows Tab (not from Basic Shapes): Click the added arrow and rotate it directly on the step using the rotation handle, however this does not change their direction setting.
You now have more control over added elements:
Corner Rounding - Adjust corners for text boxes and rectangles.
Fill Color - Color rectangles, circles, and any added shapes.
Line Weight - Control line width by entering a value or moving the slider.
Pro tip: You can use colored shapes to mask parts of your steps if you wish! Match the fill and line color using the eyedropper, then place the shape over the area you want to hide.
Click on an added element (or text box) in a step to access its floating menu, where you can:
Adjust Line weight
Control Corner Rounding
Select Line Color
Select Fill Color
Animate and element
Duplicate
Delete
Callout Text: Style and Format
Use the callout Text section to add callout text to your step and style it to fit your brand or look, quickly and precisely.
Select Format and Size: Text type, formatting, font and size.
Text Color: Select the color for your video's theme from the color picker panel.
Highlight Fill-Color: Apply a highlight to emphasize the text, or blend it into your background using the opacity percentage field.

Blur Sensitive Information
Available on: Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans
Utilize a resizable shape to blur out sensitive information from the video, safeguarding privacy and confidentiality.
To hide sensitive information consistently across all steps of your video, right-click the Blur shape and select "Apply to all steps."
Add Shapes to Highlight Elements
Use as regular shapes: Use shapes as standard visual elements to enhance your video's clarity.
You can edit the shape color and apply to all shapes (of the same type) for effortless consistency.
Highlight: Click the Spotlight icon to emphasize a specific area within the selected shape. Supported highlight shapes include rectangle and circle.
Apply a Dark Overlay
Overlay: Add a dark overlay to your step to dim sensitive information and draw attention to what matters most. When combined with highlighted shapes, arrows, or text-boxes, the overlay helps guide viewers’ focus.
Note: Overlays cannot be applied to images added via Add Media in the Media section.
To remove the Overlay, click on the dark filter. An icon will appear at the top. Click it to delete the overlay.

Spruce up your video with engaging audio tracks. Preview and select the appropriate soundtrack for your content.
The Media Section
Enrich your steps with: Logos, A Profile Image, Speaker Images, or Upload your own images and store them under "uploaded images in the Media section for easy access.
Add Logos for Branding
Integrate your brand identity by using one of the logos from your Brand Kit. Logos help reinforce your visual identity throughout your video content.
Use Avatar Images for a Personal Connection
Add your own profile picture or a speaker's avatar image to make communication feel more personal and relatable, fostering a stronger connection with your audience.
Upload Images for Visual Context
Enhance your videos by uploading complementary images or screenshots to add visual context and highlight your message. All uploaded images are saved in the Media section under “Uploaded Images.”
You can delete a saved image from your media by clicking the trash bin icon in the top-right corner of the image.
Note: You can store up to 5 GB of uploaded media on the free plan, and up to 1 TB on Pro, Business and Enterprise plans.

By clicking on the "Transitions" tab you can add an engaging motion animation between steps. We offer a variety of transitions.
Steps Navigation Bar
Below the video preview, you’ll find the step navigation bar. Use it to move between steps or to reorder them by clicking and dragging to the desired position within the guidde.
Open the step’s Actions menu by clicking the three dots in the bottom-right corner of the step.
From here, you can:
Set the step's timing
Duplicate step
Delete step
To adjust a step’s timing, select Set Timing and use the timing bar to shorten or extend the step duration.
Note: The minimum timing is set automatically based on the step’s speaker and cannot go below a certain limit. If you wish to shorten the step further, consider reducing the speaker’s text.
On the upper right corner of the step navigation bar, you'll find two important buttons: "Crop" and "Add Step"
Use the crop button to Zoom in and out into a step or replace a specific step image, while keeping the rest of the step components intact.
When you click "Add Step," a variety of step import options become available to enhance your content creation:
Add Blank Step: Start with a clean canvas.
Add Image Step: Insert an image as a step.
Import video file: Add an MP4 video.
Import steps: Bring in steps from another Guidde, a PDF, or a PowerPoint.
Insert captured clip: Incorporate motion directly from the video Guidde recorded.
Zoom Controls
On the left side of the video, you’ll find the zoom controls panel to help you preview your guidde. Use the plus and minus buttons, mouse scroll, pinch gestures, or full-screen preview to adjust the view.
Note: These zoom controls are designed to help you preview the video, not edit it. If you wish to Zoom into a specific area on a step, apply Pan & Zoom.
Saving your Changes
In Guidde, we automatically save your edits. After you've finished editing. You can apply the changes to your final video by clicking the done button which is located in the top right corner of the editor. You can also undo and re-do changes if needed.
Revert edits
To undo or redo edits in the video editor, use the following options:
Undo:
Press Cmd+Z (Mac) or Ctrl+Z (Windows) on your keyboard, or click the Undo button in the toolbar at the top of the editor. This will revert the most recent edit you made.
Redo:
Press Cmd+Shift+Z (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+Z (Windows) on your keyboard, or click the Redo button in the toolbar to restore any action you previously undone.
Restore the last published version:
If you wish to revert the video to the previously published version, click the three dots in the top-right corner of the editor and select Restore published version. This will revert all changes made since the last published version.|
