Updated this week

Once you've captured a video, you can apply the following tools in the Video Editor: Edit visuals, Speaker and Transcript to refine your guidde.

  • Document Editor: Format the accompanying document, which presents the step-by-step video in a screenshot and textual description format.

The Video Editor

Note: To edit a guidde that you didn’t create in your workspace, make sure you have the required permission level.

To begin editing your step-by-step guidde video, click the "Edit" button in the right corner of the video preview page. This page appears right after your guidde has been captured, or when you access it from your homepage.

Editor Overview

Let's explore Guidde video editor.

On the left side of our editor, you will find our editor Side Panel, which we'll explore next.

Background Selection

Within our Background tab, you can:

  • Set a background for a specific step or apply it to all steps.

  • Choose from colors, gradients, or uploaded images to captivate your audience and align with your brand.

  • You can remove a background entirely by toggling this option off.

Background can be set, changed or removed even after your video is captured.

Note: When your image doesn’t cover the entire step, the background frame will appear black by default.

Check out this page to learn how to set a default visual style for your videos: Brand Kit: Step Appearance.

Elements Selection

Want to add numbers, shapes, a browser bar or blur elements to your video steps? You can do all of that from the Elements tab in the video editor.

You can add:

  • Step numbers

  • Blur effect

  • Overlay effect

  • Basic Shapes: Rectangle, circle, curved arrow

  • Emojis

  • Chat bubbles

  • Arrows

  • And more!

Change the direction of a Basic Shapes arrow: Once you've added an arrow from Basic Shapes, click it. Then, in the floating menu, click the arrow icon (second from the left) to choose its direction from the opened sub-menu.

Rotate Arrows from the Arrows Tab (not from Basic Shapes): Click the added arrow and rotate it directly on the step using the rotation handle, however this does not change their direction setting.

You now have more control over added elements:

  • Corner Rounding - Adjust corners for text boxes and rectangles.

  • Fill Color - Color rectangles, circles, and any added shapes.

  • Line Weight - Control line width by entering a value or moving the slider.

Pro tip: You can use colored shapes to mask parts of your steps if you wish! Match the fill and line color using the eyedropper, then place the shape over the area you want to hide.

Click on an added element (or text box) in a step to access its floating menu, where you can:

  • Adjust Line weight

  • Control Corner Rounding

  • Select Line Color

  • Select Fill Color

  • Animate and element

  • Duplicate

  • Delete

Callout Text: Style and Format

Use the callout Text section to add callout text to your step and style it to fit your brand or look, quickly and precisely.

  • Select Format and Size: Text type, formatting, font and size.

  • Text Color: Select the color for your video's theme from the color picker panel.

  • Highlight Fill-Color: Apply a highlight to emphasize the text, or blend it into your background using the opacity percentage field.

Add Shapes to Highlight Elements

You can edit the shape color and apply to all shapes (of the same type) for effortless consistency.

  • Highlight: Click the Spotlight icon to emphasize a specific area within the selected shape. Supported highlight shapes include rectangle and circle.

Apply a Dark Overlay

Overlay: Add a dark overlay to your step to dim sensitive information and draw attention to what matters most. When combined with highlighted shapes, arrows, or text-boxes, the overlay helps guide viewers’ focus.

Note: Overlays cannot be applied to images added via Add Media in the Media section.

To remove the Overlay, click on the dark filter. An icon will appear at the top. Click it to delete the overlay.
