Speaker Editor: Edit the AI Generated Voiceover or Record / Upload Your Own

You can fine-tune the transcript, choose from a range of AI voices, control speed and pronunciation or record/upload your own voiceover.

Getting Started with the Speaker Editor

1. To edit the AI-generated voiceover and transcript, click "Edit Video" to open the video editor. You can do this right after capturing, from the video document view, or from your guidde homepage using the three-dot menu on any video.

2. Click "Speaker" on the left side panel to open the speaker editor section.

  • Inside the Speaker Editor you'll find a panel with the step-by-step transcript for easy scrolling and editing. You can preview your transcript, control voice selection, adjust pronunciation, and more. Follow the next steps to learn how.

Speaker Navigation Menu

This menu, located at the top right of the Speaker editing panel, lets you:

  • Switch to the full screen speaker editor

  • Search the transcript for specific words

  • Open "Apply to all Steps" settings

  • Learn about editing shortcuts.

3. Click the full-screen icon on top of the speaker panel to open the Speaker Editor in full-screen mode. This gives you more space to focus on your transcript and preview speaker edits.

4. Click the text in any step to edit it. You can preview the voiceover by clicking Play in the upper right corner of each step, or open advanced editing using the three-dot menu, available both in the main editor and in the full-screen Speaker Editor. We’ll cover all the editing options below.

5. To return to the main editor, click "Continue Editing" on the top right.

6. Easily find a word in your transcript by clicking the magnifying glass.

7. Click the arrow at the top right of the search panel to open the expanded Find and Replace tool. Search for any word to see where, and how many times, it appears in your video. You can choose to replace it once, or across the entire guidde if needed.

8. Click the info icon to view editing shortcuts and speed up your workflow.

9. Use the three-dots on top of the speaker panel to open the settings menu, where you can apply changes across all steps:

  • Apply the voiceover text to all captions

  • Switch all steps to an AI voice (if you’ve recorded or uploaded your own)

  • Remove the voiceover from all steps.

Speaker Editing: Transcript and Voice

Edit the Voiceover Text

Note: Each step supports up to 1500 characters.

Pro tip: Need more text in a single step? Simply duplicate it and continue the transcript in the next one.

1. Open the Speaker Editor (as shown here). You can scroll through the voiceover text for each step in the Speaker panel on the left. Click any step to jump directly to its transcript. A blue mark indicates where you are.

  • You can update a step’s title by clicking into it and typing your own.

  • To change the guidde’s title, click it at the top left and enter a new one.

2. Edit the transcript by clicking into the text and enter your changes.

To preview your voiceover edits, click play either at the top right of the step, or below the video.

3. Double-click a word or sentence to open the smart text menu where you can copy text, rephrase it with AI, or fix pronunciation.

4. Click the Copy icon to copy a word, sentence, or full step and paste it anywhere.

5. Use the AI Assistant to:

  • Improve writing

  • Fix grammar

  • Make the text longer

  • Make the text shorter

  • Change tone to: Professional, Friendly, Casual.

6. You can refine word pronunciation:

Double-click a word, select Pronunciation from the upper tab.

Enter an alternative spelling or pronunciation using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). Click Play to preview how it sounds. You can apply the change once, across the entire Guidde, or save it to your workspace dictionary for consistent future use.

7. Add and Edit Pauses to Control Pace: Click into the text in the page transcript to add or adjust pauses.

  • Insert a pause using the new Pause button at the bottom of the step, or use a the shortcut: Cmd+P (Mac) / Ctrl+P (Windows).

  • An automatic 0.4-second pause will be added by default.

  • Adjust the pause by adding another one or entering a custom duration to set the exact timing you want.

  • Preview how it sounds by playing the step’s preview.

  • To remove a pause, position your cursor before it and press "Delete".

Edit the Speaker Voice

  • AI-Text-to-Voice is available Business and Enterprise plans.

  • Premium Voices are available on Enterprise, or as an add-on on the Business plan.

1. To switch voices, scroll to the bottom of the Speaker Panel and click the pencil icon next to the name of the current speaker.

Note:

  • Only one speaker can be selected per video.

  • If a speaker voice is set in your Brand Kit, it will be used as the default generated voice. You can change the speaker per video in the Speaker Editor, or update the Brand Kit to set a different default voice.

2. A popup window with a list of available voices will appear. You can click the Play button next to each voice to preview and select the one that best fits your preference.

3. Use the checkboxes in the filter on the left to narrow down voices by:

  • Quality: Standard or Premium

  • Gender

  • Language: Type to auto-fill or scroll down

4. Click Select in the bottom-right corner of this menu to finalize and apply the voice to your guidde.

5. To set a voice as the default, toggle "Set as Default" at the bottom-left of the voice selection window.

Note: The default voice will be applied to all new guiddes. Existing guiddes will keep their originally selected speaker voice.

Advanced Speaker Settings

1. Use the three-dot menu on the top right of each step, to open advanced controls.

In the full-screen Speaker Editor, you’ll find the three-dot menu to the right of each step - click it to access advanced settings.

2. Adjust the playback speed using the slider - to make the voiceover faster or slower. Apply it to just one step or to the entire guidde.

Pro tip: Adjusting the speaker’s playback speed is an easy way to fine-tune the speaker’s pace to your video, or to speed things up across the entire guidde.

3. Sync Voiceover Text with Captions, so everything stays aligned. For more information follow this link, or click the info icon in the relevant step in the editor.

Note: The Sync with captions checkbox is on by default. You can uncheck this option if you want to work on the captions and voiceover separately.

Record Your Voice to a Step's Voiceover

1. From the advanced settings menu (opened by clicking the three dots on the upper right of each step), select "Record your voice".

2. If a step doesn’t have narration yet, you can click the microphone icon inside the text box to start recording.

  • When you choose to record your voice, a recording modal will appear.

3. Select your input device from the dropdown menu.

4. Select the language you'll be speaking. This will enable our AI assistant to accurately transcribe your narration.

5. When you are ready, click the microphone icon to start recording.

  • Note: You can record up to 60 seconds per step

6. As you speak, a timer shows your progress. When you're done, click 'Stop'.

7. After recording, you can listen to your playback, re-record, discard, or click Confirm to save it.

8. Once saved, the voiceover step displays an audio bar, and you can manage the recording through the step’s three-dot menu.

9. From this dropdown menu, you can:

  • Switch your voice recording to an AI-generated speaker voice.

  • Review transcript and copy your voiceover text.

  • Re-record your voiceover.

  • Delete voiceover.

A transcript of your recording will be automatically added and can be easily copied to clipboard for ease of use, or edited if you're switching to an AI voiceover.

10. Your avatar image will appear on the step you narrated.

Click and drag to move, resize, or delete it. Note: Deleting your avatar/profile image will remove it from new steps and future Guiddes, unless you wish to upload it again manually via the media editor.

Upload Audio

1. To upload your audio, click the steps' three-dot menu and select "Upload audio".

2. You'll be prompted to select a file. Choose any MP3 or WAV file from your device and click confirm. Your audio file will be uploaded to the selected step.

Note: You can upload MP3 or WAV files, up to 10 MB per step.

To preview your speaker changes click play.

3. Save your changes by clicking Done on the upper right corner of the video editor.

You’re all set! The Speaker Editor helps you customize your speaker and transcript so you can create guiddes that perfectly match your style and voice.
