A Video Step is a step that contains video content, rather than a static image. Video Steps can be automatically generated using the Automated Captured Clip feature, or added manually by uploading an MP4 file via Add Step (on all plans) or Upload Video (on the Enterprise plan).
Manual editing of video steps allows you to:
Split a video
Add a Snapshot from a video
Trim a video
Sync Captions
β
1. To start editing a video step, open the video editor by clicking "Edit video" from the guidde's view page, or from the three dot menu at the top right of a guidde in your homepage.
2. Click "Edit video" button at the bottom right of the video.
3. A video timeline will open where you can edit the captured clip, trim it, and preview the video anytime by pressing "Play" to see how your edits look before and after making changes.
4. Adjust the zoom level in the video timeline to view more or less of the timeline at once. This zoom is for viewing purposes only and does not zoom in, crop, or change the actual video content.
5. Split a video step into two separate steps by placing the timeline pin at the point where you want the split to occur. Then, click Split to divide the video into two distinct video steps.
6. The Snapshot feature captures a still image from the video and inserts it between two video segments, creating a video-image-video flow. This is useful for emphasizing exact moments or adding visual pauses in your guidde.
7. You can trim your video step by dragging the left or right corners of the video timeline to adjust the start or end of the video step.
Note: Video-steps can be trimmed to shorten their duration. However their images cannot be cropped.
8. Note that you can revert or reapply changes using the undo and redo buttons.
Once saved, new video steps are treated as separate entities. The only way to revert changes is through the Undo button, which restores the video to its previous state.
9. To finalize and apply your changes click the save button.
10. In the video timeline, you can see a Video Step that was manually split and trimmed, with a snapshot added from the video.
