Overview
If the Guidde Desktop App shows a blank screen, freezes, cannot detect open windows during capture, or displays the message “No windows or apps detected. Please open one to capture”, the issue is usually related to how Windows assigns graphics processing (GPU).
This typically happens when the app runs on a high-performance GPU (such as NVIDIA or AMD), while the desktop is rendered using the integrated GPU. This difference can prevent proper screen capture.
Symptoms
You may experience one or more of the following issues:
Blank screen when starting a capture
No windows detected in the recorder
Frozen or unresponsive preview during recording
Resolution: Set Guidde to Power Saving GPU Mode
To resolve this, configure the app to use Power Saving mode, which forces it to use the integrated GPU and aligns it with the Windows desktop rendering environment.
Open Windows Graphics settings
Go to the Start menu and open Settings.
Navigate to System > Display, scroll down, and select Graphics.
Locate the Guidde Desktop App
3. In the app list, search for Guidde.
If it does not appear:
Select Browse
Navigate to the installation folder (usually:
C:\Program Files\Guidde)Select the Guidde
.exefile and click Add
Set GPU preference
4. Select Guidde from the list and click Options.
5. In the dialog that appears, choose Power Saving (Integrated GPU)
6. Click Save.
Restart the app
7. Close the Guidde Desktop App completely (check the system tray to ensure it is not still running).
8. Reopen the app and try capturing again.
Expected Outcome
After applying this setting, the app should correctly display windows and allow screen capture without blank or frozen screens.
